Henry Jackson Murry
Born: June 09, 1939
Died: October 24, 2009

Henry J. Murry, 70, passed away October 24, 2009. He was born June 9, 1939 in Tuttle, Oklahoma, to William "WW" and Virgie Murry.

Henry served active duty for six months in the U.S. Army from January 1957 to June 1957 then the reserves until September 1964. After and during his service he worked for several different companies; the longest and the one in which he retired from in 2001 was Safeway/Homeland. He met the love of his life, Barbara Royal in 1971 and they were married on July 14, 1973. Henry and Barbara moved to Guthrie, OK in 1979 where they became members of Seward Road Baptist Church. Henry loved his Oklahoma Sooners, hockey, spending time with family, drinking coffee and being at the farm. The man we called husband, dad and papa will be missed and cherished. So as we say goodbye for now we know we were truly the lucky ones.

Henry is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald "Sonny" Murry, sisters Angeline Putnam and Little Bill Roberson, and sister-in-law Joan Barton.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara, of the home; three children Johnny Royal and wife Julie, Christy Maxwell-Dolan and husband Jim all of Guthrie, and Heather Sumner and husband Derek of Okmulgee, OK; six grandchildren Hunter, Cheyenne, Tylar, Cyle', Dawson, and Hallee, with one more on the way; brothers Billy Barton of Del City, OK and James Murry of Edmond, OK; along with a multitude of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 30, 2009 at Seward Road Baptist Church with Reverend Rex Haymaker officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Henry’s name to Norman Regional Hospitality House. Checks can be made to Hospitality House, P.O. Box 1308, Norman OK 73070.

Visitation will be held at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home on Thursday, 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
