Ronald Romain Ledington
Ronald Romain Ledington

August 22, 1947 - August 03, 2017

Ronald Romain Ledington of Guthrie, age 69, passed away on August 3, 2017, in his home with his loving family by his side.

Ron was born on August 22, 1947, in the former Benedictine Heights Hospital, Guthrie, to Jess and Emma Jean (Schmiedbauer) Ledington. He attended Guthrie High School where he participated in the wrestling program. Ron graduated with his class of 1965, and went on to study at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. He was also a member of the National Guard.

Ron married his wife, Roxana June (Gathers) on November 12, 1971, and dedicated himself to raising his family in Guthrie. He was employed with Kerr McGee for seven years, and then went to work as a machinist for Nestle-Purina (Edmond). After 35 years on the job, Ron retired in 2011. Always the life of the party, he was also the owner of Led's Party Shop for 18 years.

While his loved ones came first, Oklahoma State sports were a close second. Ron was an OSU football season ticket holder for 36 years, and a Cowboy, through and through. He enjoyed cook-outs and family swim parties. He was a great outdoor cook, and was always up for a good time. Ron's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of his eye.

Ron is survived by his wife of the home, daughter Tina Shae Richardson and husband Greg, son Brandon Ledington and wife Amanda, all of Guthrie. Four grandchildren: McKinzie Dobey and husband Anthony, of Edmond, Koleton Richardson, Ashlyn Ledington, and Emma Ledington, all of Guthrie. Two great-grandchildren: Elaina and Onyx Dobey, of Edmond. He is also survived by two brothers, Johnny Ledington, Donnie Ledington and wife LeAnn, all of Guthrie. Sister-in-law, Jacqueta (Gathers) Cantrel and husband Tom, of Eufaula, nephews, and a host of friends.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, August 7, 2017, at First Southern Baptist Church, Guthrie, under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, and officiated by Chaplain Gene Owen. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Guthrie. Viewing will be held prior at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, on Sunday, August 6, 2017, from 2:00PM to 5:00PM.

Ron will be greatly missed by his loving family, and all who knew him.
