Harold Colbert, age 83 of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away June 16, 2019 in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was born on March 28, 1936 in Guthrie to George Colbert and Rosa Jacques.
Harold lived in Guthrie all his life and attended the First National Baptist Church for his entire life where he was a Deacon, Trustee, and Treasurer. Harold graduated from Faver High School. In 1952 he married Evelyn Brown.
Harold worked for OG&E and retired in 1995. He also worked for and retired from the Guthrie Job Corps. He loved fishing and playing dominoes. He was a former member of the Eureka #14 Lodge, a 32nd Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Desert Wheels.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Evelyn of the home; daughters Shalene Hagens of Guthrie, Vanessa Jenkins of Oklahoma City, and Harlena Edwards and husband Alfred of Oklahoma City; other children Maurice Golson of Oklahoma City, Jeffery Jones of Guthrie, Rochelle Jordan of Guthrie, and Kimberly Hill Spencer of Las Vegas, Nevada; siblings Billy Chadwick and wife Erma of Wichita, Kansas, Leoma Bennett of Oklahoma City, Thelma Chadwick of Oklahoma City, Mae Ella Chadwick of Oklahoma City, and JoAnn Coleman and husband Cornelius of Houston, Texas; brother-in-law Charles Brown of Oklahoma City, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Howard and Pauline Jones of Guthrie and sister-in-law Thelma Colbert of Augusta, Georgia; 11 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren and cousins.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Belinda Wallace, son Anthony Jones, and his twin brother Gerald Colbert.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at First National Baptist Church in Guthrie with Reverend Hersey Hammons officiating. The casket will not be open at any time. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery in Guthrie.
