Mary Lee Bohanan
Born: July 18, 1925
Died: June 27, 2010
Mary Lee Bohanan left this world on June 27, 2010 peacefully at her home outside of Guthrie. Mary was born in Caddo, Oklahoma to Sallie Pearl and T.A. Wood on July 18, 1925. Mary married Buster Bohanan on October 9, 1946. They were married for 51 years. Out of their union, they had a son Tommy Lee and a daughter Gayla Lynn.
Mary retired from Guthrie Public Schools after 18 years in Child Nutrition Services. Mary was involved as a member in the VFW Auxiliary. She also was an active member of Woodcrest Baptist Church where she enjoyed her church family and the word of God as well as singing the hymns from the old days.
She had a great love for the outdoors and spent most of her time outside pulling weeds. Mary was very happy and enjoyed her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She never felt self-pity and relied on her strong faith to see her through. We know she is extremely happy in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus.
Mary was preceded in death by her father Thomas Albert Wood, mother Sallie Pearl (Staton) Wood, the love of her life Buster Bohanan, her brother Bob Wood, and sister Wilma Praytor. She is survived by her brother Jim Wood of Georgia, son Tom Bohanan and wife Betty of Edmond, daughter Gayla Stokes and husband Bob of Guthrie. She had three grandchildren: Devon, Isaac, and Amber as well as three great-grandchildren: Carson, Isabella, and Addison. Mary also leaves a host of family and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Stanley Horst, Dr. Jeffery Floyd, Golden Age Nursing Home, Companion Home Health, Companion Hospice, and Liz Luster for assisting Mom on her final journey.
