Ruth Starks

Died: November 30, 2015

Funeral services for Ruth Starks, 86, of Meridian, OK, will be held at 2:30 PM, Friday, December 4, 2015 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Reverend Everett Mack officiating. Interment will follow at McKinley Cemetery in Meridian. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.

Ruth was born January 11, 1929 in Sand Springs, OK, to Merritt William and Margaret Susan (McEwen) McPeak. She passed away Monday, November 30, 2015 in Meridian.

Visitation will be held Thursday, 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Ruth Starks
Born: January 11, 1929
Died: November 30, 2015

Edna "Ruth" McPeak Starks was born January 11, 1929, in Sand Springs, OK, and passed away November 30, 2015, at her farm in Meridian, OK, where she had lived for 65 years.

Funeral services will be held at Smith Memorial Chapel in Guthrie on December 4, 2015, at 2:30 P.M. Interment will follow at McKinley Cemetery in Meridian, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Ruth is survived by 3 sons, Derral, Keith and Stanley Starks, all of Meridian, and 1 daughter, Arlene Ray of Stillwater. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Jason, Josh and Jordyn Starks; Cory, Nathan, and Jesse Ray, John and Oliver Wolfington, Brandy Evans, Jamie Lucario, and Stacey Voight, along with 14 great- grandchildren. Ruth also leaves 3 siblings: Marie Daggs, James Calvin McPeak, and Teresa Carol West, along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.

She is preceeded in death by her husband Archie, who she shared 68 years with; her daughter, Darlene Starks Wolfington; her parents, Merritt William McPeak and Margaret Susan McEwen; a granddaughter, Jenny Kay Starks; a sister, Margaret JoAnn Miller, along with one daughter in law, and one son in law.

Ruth started and finished school in Meridian, OK. After Archie returned from WWII, they married in 1947 and began to have their 5 children. Ruth helped Archie run the farm, cooking and cleaning for up to 25 hired farm hands, in addition to taking care of her own family. She was part of the Logan County Extension Homemakers Group, and wrote the Meridian column for the Guthrie Daily Leader for several years. She attended the Meridian Baptist Church in Meridian, OK.

She portrayed a selfless heart and generous spirit throughout her life, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held Thursday, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
