Fredric J. "Buddy" Gilliam

Born: January 21, 1959
Died: August 26, 2010

Fredric J. "Buddy" Gilliam III was born January 21, 1959 in Guthrie, OK to Fredric J. Gilliam II and Delores N. (DeMoss) Gilliam. He passed away at his home on August 26, 2010 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years Dianna Heilman-Gilliam; daughter Nicole Lesher and husband Cody; granddaughter Lana; his siblings, big sister Suzie "love the mostest", Delbert, Willie "best friend", Patressia, and Pete; half-sister Doris and husband Greg; sister-in-law Tina Gilliam; special aunt Elaine DeMoss; uncle Richard DeMoss; father-in-law Jerry Heilman; sisters-in-law LaDawn Waddell and Sherry Heilman; brother-in-law Ben Stevens; 20 nieces and nephews; 34 great-nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his special friends Randy and Carie Robison, Jon and Christy Chennault, Alan and Maria Sunde, Brian and Stacy Rowell, and James Moniz.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Fred and Lela Gilliam and Willie and Alice DeMoss, father Fredric Gilliam, siblings David Gilliam, Marissia Clark, and Marlela Golay, uncles Marvin DeMoss and Rick DeMoss; and his loving mother-in-law Joyce Woodard.

Buddy was a devoted husband, loving father, and a proud new grandpa. He worked 14 years at John Vance Motors as an auto technician and owned an auto restoration business. He enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. In his spare time he watched old movies, OU football, listened to country music, and spent time at the lake.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Reverend Mark Lamar of Crescent Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrie Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be Monday, 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. The casket will not be open after the services.

Memorials may be made in Buddy’s memory to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for cancer research, 825 Northeast 13th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104.
