Marilyn Margie Jones

Born: September 16, 1933
Died: October 21, 2012

Marilyn Margie Jones was born on September 16, 1933 in Prague, OK to Dave and Elsie (Bialey) Meier. She passed away with her family by her side on October 21, 2012, in Oklahoma City, OK.

Marilyn attended Oklahoma State University where she met her husband Russell Jones. She was the Cowboy's number one fan, and rarely missed a game.

An Air Force wife, Marilyn enjoyed traveling to the many countries she and her family visited during their time in the service. Marilyn was an avid golfer, often referred to as “The Queen of Cedar Valley” where she lived for most of her life. She helped organize and was president of both the Cedar Valley Ladies' Golf Association and the Coffee Creek Ladies’ Golf Association.

If she was not on the golf course, Marilyn could be found toiling away at a crossword puzzle or reflecting on the drama of her favorite soap operas.

She is survived by her husband Russell Jones of the home; daughter Laurie Jones-Butler and husband Jerry of Little Rock, AR; son Bryan Jones and wife Janis of Oklahoma City; grandson Blair Butler of Little Rock, AR; and brother David Meier and wife Shiolette of Edmond, OK. She was a strong, proud woman and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Smith Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

In lieu of floral arrangements, donations may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, American Cancer Society, or a cancer research foundation of your choice.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
