Dannis "Dan" Dean Belk was born on September 12, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Omer and Betty Jo (Farr) Belk. Dan passed away on June 28, 2021, in Guthrie, Oklahoma at the age of 74 surrounded by his family.

Dan moved to Guthrie in 1984 when he started working for the Guthrie Police Department where served his community for 29 years and retired as a Lieutenant in 2013. Dan married the love of his life, Cheryl Shepard, on August 18, 1986, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Some of Dan’s hobbies included OU Sooners football, golf, riding his motorcycle, and fishing (but only if the weather was just right).

Dan is survived his wife of 34 years Cheryl Belk; children Shannon Leewright of Guthrie, Kim Schell of Guthrie, Misty Britton of Guthrie, Mellissa Widener of Oklahoma City, Gregg Belk of Lakeland, Florida, and and Chancey Watts and wife Lori of Guthrie; 19 grandchildren: Kristen Nix, McKenna Alvarado, Jace Leewright, Amanda Stevenson, Drew Gentry, Cody Scruggs, Ry Scruggs, Cameron Britton, Devin Britton, Mason Smith, Cherokee Ward, Ashlee Widener, Megan Widener, Bailey Belk, Sydney Belk, Raven Belk, Madi Portwood, Cooper Watts, and Maizee Watts; and four great grandchildren: Creed Portwood, Jakob Britton, Jonas Ward, and Walker Coit.

Dan is also survived by his aunt Judy Ashcraft, uncle Paul Cane and wife Rose, and niece Erin Cornwell and husband Allen.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents and grandson Blake Scruggs.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 5, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Southern Baptist Church in Guthrie with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating. Inurnment will follow at Harmony Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
