William Sy Watts
(April 14, 1915 - April 18, 2008)

William Sy Watts died April 18, 2008 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years and 4 days. He was born April 14, 1915 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Albert and Rosa Mae (Hopson) Watts.

Sy was born in Southeastern Oklahoma but moved to Crescent in 1917 at the age of 2 with his Uncle Robert Hopson. He grew up in Crescent farming with his uncle. He married Georgia Katherine Payne on May 20, 1936 in Crescent, Oklahoma. Sy continued to farm west of Crescent until 1956 when he went to work for Tinker Air Force Base and moved his family to Bethany. In 1960 they moved back to Crescent and bought a house in town and remained there until his death. Sy was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Katherine Watts of the home; one son, Larry Watts and wife Clara of Crescent; two brothers, Harold Watts of Texas and Paschal Watts of Madera, CA; three sisters, Susie Massey of Marshall, AR, June Watts of Madera, CA and Anita Laffoon of Battle Ground, WA; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Loren Watts, one granddaughter, Yvonna Simpson, three sisters, Bea Mossman, Bertie Wyatt and Bonnie Shacelford, three brothers, Buck Watts, Harvey Watts and Glenn Watts.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 21, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Crescent with Rev. Bryan Haynes officiating. Burial will follow at the Crescent Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at abernathyaaron.com.
