Mary Wilma Speaks
(June 14, 1919 - February 6, 2014)
Mary Wilma (Morrisett) Speaks, 94 passed on Thursday, February 6th at Golden Age nursing home in Guthrie where she has resided for the last few years. Wilma was born on June 14th, 1919 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Mary Vinnie (Kelley) Morrisett and Merida Sammons Morrisett . Wilma married Aubry Jack Speaks on May 12, 1940. Wilma worked as a sales representative for Payton Marcus and went on to be a buyer for JC Penny. She lived life to the fullest, enjoying her various hobbies such as bridge, sewing and bird watching. She was a painter that went on to teach painting to others. She attended the Methodist church.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Aubry Jack Speaks and her daughter in-law Kay Speaks. Wilma is survived by her daughter Linda Jo (Hal) Bowers and her son Jack Lee Speaks; Granddaughters: Paula (Larry) Hanson, Stephanie (Ron) Thomason and Tracey (Jason) Jackson, and Grandson: Todd (Kenda) Speaks and Great Grandchildren, Meredith Thomason, Kelsey Thomason, David Thomason, Marishka Hanson, Addison Jackson, Kylynn Jackson, Faith Speaks, Carson Speaks and Kaylee Speaks.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Roger Pitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Crescent Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent.
