Sarah Ann Ryland
(January 2, 1916 - July 17, 2007)
Sarah Ann Ryland died July 17, 2007 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 15 days. She was born January 2, 1916 in Crescent, Oklahoma to Roy P. and Gladys (Billings) Blevins. On December 24, 1934 she married Clelland W. Ryland in Crescent, Oklahoma, he preceded her in death in 1956.
Sarah and Clelland bought a farm south of Crescent where Sarah lived and farmed for almost 60 years. She taught school at Leedy, Big Four and Guthrie. She also worked at the Crescent Care Nursing Home for many years. Sarah loved to read, travel and sew. She also loved her friends and family, especially all of her grandchildren. Sarah was a member of the First Christian Church of Crescent and a member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include, one daughter, Margaret Little and husband Jim of Norman, Oklahoma; one daughter-in-law, Kris Ryalnd of Crescent; two sisters, Mildred Ellis of Crescent and Georgia Burlingame of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Vicki Newby and husband Steve of Cooperstown, NY, Kathi Springman and husband John of Edmond, Janet Bradford and husband David of Norman, John Ryland and Tommy Ryland both of Crescent; one granddaughter-in-law, Johnnie Little of Oklahoma City, twelve great grandchildren, Michael Miller and wife Courtney of Augusta, GA, Misty Miller of Cooperstown, NY, Bob Springman of San Clemente, CA, Melissa Springman of Edmond, Kyle Springman of Edmond, Jameson, Jordan, Sarah, Elianah and Isaiah Bradford all of Norman, Kandice and Dylan Little of Oklahoma City; two great great grandchildren, Leilani and Jacinda Miller of Augusta, GA.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clelland; one son, Donald Lee Ryland; one grandson, Jim Little, Jr.; two brothers, Jacob and Roy P. Blevins, Jr.; one sister, Alice Campbell.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 20, 2007 at the First Christian Church of Crescent with Mark Ruff officiating, burial will follow at the Crescent Cemetery under the direction of Abernathy-Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent. Viewing will be Thursday from 8:30 A.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at abernathyaaron.com
