Charles David Fisher
(December 28, 1958 - May 7, 2010)

Charles David Fisher was born December 28, 1958 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas to Jack and Joan Fisher, and died May 7, 2010 in Crescent, Oklahoma.

Charles moved with his family to Sand Springs, Oklahoma in 1962, to Cushing, Oklahoma in 1964, then to Alva, Oklahoma in 1966. He graduated from Alva High School in 1977, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Northwestern Oklahoma State University at Alva in 1981. He was the band instructor at Campo, Colorado from 1983 to 1984, and at Carney, Oklahoma from 1984 to 1987. He then moved to Crescent in 1987, where he was band director until the present. Charles won the Golden Apple teacher award from KOCO TV, and was Teacher of the Year in Crescent, where he also was a member and past president of the Crescent Teachers Association. He was active in the Oklahoma Band Masters Association, and organized the annual golf tournament for that organization. He belonged to the Men’s Club at the Cedar Valley Golf Course. He was married to Kim Purcell in 1991 at Crescent. Charles was preceded in death by his step-daughter Natasha Fisher. Survivors include: His parents, Jack and Joan Fisher of Alva, Oklahoma; two sons, Tyler Duane Fisher, of the home in Crescent and Joshua Fisher of Kowa, Kansas; step-child, Stephanie Bessman, of Guthrie; one brother, Robert Fisher and his wife Kara of Elk City, Oklahoma; a niece, Jennifer Fisher of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, and step nieces, Kayleigh Reed of Elk City, Kassi Morse of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jenee’ Robinson of Cheyenne, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Crescent High School Gym with Brother John Lovett officiating. Burial will follow in the Crescent Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home.
