Merle Eugene Eitson

Merle E. "Mike" Eitson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 13th, 2008. Mike was born July 12, 1934 on a farm near Crescent, Ok. He moved to Guthrie when he was 9 years old. He was a farmer and worked at Tinker Air Force Base, retiring in 1974. He then worked as an auctioneer until 1996.
Mike was very active in both the Masons and Eastern Star. He was a member of Guthrie Masonic Lodge #35 (Past Master), Albert Pike Lodge #162, Guthrie Scottish Rite (KCCH), India Shrine, and Guthrie Edmond Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star both in Guthrie Chapter #12 and Cashion Areme Chapter #168. Mike was also a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
Mike was predeceased by his parents Albert and Sadie Eitson, brothers Wesley Eitson of Idaho Falls, Idaho and James Eitzen of Denver, Colorado, and former wife Ann I. "Jeannie" Eitson in 2000.
Mike is survived by his wife Joyce of the home, his daughter Jana Sue Gizinski and husband Wayne of Cheyenne, Wyoming, step-daughters VaLenda McKee and Christina Smith both of Guthrie, step-sons Joe Nicholson and wife Joan of Edmond and Brian Downing of Inez, Kentucky. Mike is also survived by sisters Mary Stewart, Sylvia Ochs, and Darla Wilson and husband Victor, all of Guthrie, one brother, John Eitson and wife Vera of Irving, Texas, and many nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren and friends.
Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all.
Services will be at the First Christian Church, 402 E. Noble, on February 18th, at 2 p.m. the Reverend Dennis Clark of First Christian Church and Father John Barrego of Trinity Episcopal Church will officiate under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home of Guthrie, interment at Crescent Cemetery to follow.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Sunday until 8 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until noon Monday.
