Dollie J. Cummings
(January 5, 1939 - December 5, 2008)
Dollie Jane Cummings was born January 5, 1939 in Crescent, Oklahoma to Arthur, Sr. and Ida Mae (Curry) Johnson. She passed away on December 5, 2008 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years.
Dollie was born and raised in Crescent. Being the middle child allowed her to develop a loving bond with her older brothers, Art and Buddy, as well as her younger siblings, Butch, Jimmy and Jackie. She attended school in Crescent. She shared a love of horses with her younger brothers.
She married Charles (Chuck) Williams on April 1, 1957 in Poteau, Oklahoma. They were blessed with six children. Married life took Dollie many places, but she eventually returned back home to Crescent.
Dollie later married George Cummings in 1975. She shared her love of fishing with George and her children at many of the Crescent ponds. Dollie was an excellent cook and loved to teach her favorite recipes to her children and grandchildren. Dollie was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Each child loved to go to Grandma’s house for a good time and wonderful things to eat.
Dollie moved to Shawnee after the death of her husband, George. There she enjoyed planting flowers and growing a small garden in her backyard. She even added a few chickens from time to time. Her love of animals led her to her dogs, Tiny and Nicky, who became her companions for life. Those that loved Dollie should know that she left her earthly home with her arms stretched upward and a smile on her face.
Survivors include, two daughters, Anna Marie McBroom of Shawnee and Crystal Dawn Hermanson of Carrollton, MO; four sons, Charles "Gene" Williams of Crescent, Howard Earl Williams of Virginia, Stanley Williams of Edmond and Wesley Dean Williams of Eagle Rock, MO; one sister, Jackie Jones of Tecumseh, OK; three brothers, Arthur Johnson, Jr., Buddy Johnson and Butch Johnson all of Crescent; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
