Darla Kay Allen
(March 18, 1942 - September 28, 2009)

Darla Kay Allen was born on a farm south of Crescent on March 18, 1942 and passed away September 28, 2009 in Oklahoma City. She was raised on the same farm with her two sisters and brother. She was saved and then baptized on January 8, 1956. Kay was very active both in school and her community. She graduated from Crescent High School in 1960.

After graduation she married and raised her family of four in Crescent. She enjoyed being a homemaker and seamstress for many in the community. In the mid 70’s Kay began her career in direct sales and in 1992 became the number one salesperson in the nation for Royal Prestige. All through the 80’s and 90’s, Kay with her husband Jerry, operated an award-winning distributorship for Royal Prestige.

With all the successes in her life, nothing was more important and satisfying to her than Christmases spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Kay always did everything with such great ease whether it was her sewing, crocheting, cooking, or planning their annual 4th of July party. Kay’s laughter and smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her or whoever met her.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Allen of the home; children, Michael Richards and wife Kerri of Crescent, Kimberlyn Evans and husband Chris of The Village, Julie Ann Richards of Edmond, Danielle Richards and friend Michelle McKnight of Edmond, David Allen and wife Vicky of Edmond, Jeff Allen of Crescent, and Cindy Lugo and husband Ray of Crescent; two sisters, Virginia McClure of Crescent and Paula Jarrett of Edmond; one brother, Duane McGuire of Crescent; eleven grandchildren, Chris Allen and wife Stacey, Leah Allen, Jared Anderson, Sean Evans, Jeffrey Allen, Jessie Evans, Jillian Allen, Trenton Richards, Mackenzie Richards, Eryn Richards, and Gracie Lugo; two great grandchildren, Madelyn Allen and Crew Allen. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 2, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Crescent with Rev. Steve Black and Rev. John Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in the Crescent Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at abernathyaaron.com.
