Funeral services for Vergie May Welch, 92, of Coyle will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999 at Coyle Assembly of God officiated by Rev. Scott Gammon. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery in Coyle under the direction of Strode Funeral Home of Stillwater.
She was born July 5, 1907 in Kiowa County, Okla., to Robert Lee and Lettie Earle (Leach) Short.
She married Charles Edward Welch on Feb. 12, 1927 in Coyle. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1978.
As a homemaker, Vergie Mae lived in the Coyle vicinity all of her life. She was a member of Coyle Assembly of God.
She moved to Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie where she lived for the past two years. She enjoyed crocheting, working in her flower beds, gardening and baking apple pies. She loved her family and grandchildren very much.
Vergie Mae was a long time member of the Friends Chapel Church and she loved spending time in the Word of her Lord by reading the Bible.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one son, Joe Welch; one daughter, Rose Zeller; one grandson, Jeffrey Roton, 1 great-grandson, Conner Welch; one brother, Elmer Short and one sister, Velma Linn.
She is survived by three sons, Chester Welch and his wife Pearl, Nathan Welch and his wife Darlene, and Leslie Welch and his wife Helen; one daughter, Evelyn Roton and her husband Gerald; one daughter-in-law, Alma Welch; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Vergie May's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
