Roy Farrell Taylor, Sr. was born December 21, 1933 in Chandler to Dempsey and Maggie (Stidham) Taylor. He passed away in his home in Sparks, January 11, 2021 at the age of 87.
oy grew up in Chandler and Davenport where he graduated high school with the Davenport Class of 1952. He proudly served his country in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. Roy was a carpenter by trade. He and his wife, Mary, fostered handicapped children. Roy enjoyed whittling, hunting, fishing, and going to the lake. He loved to spend time with his family.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charlie Taylor; son-in-law, Dexter Davis; daughter-in-law, Kathy Taylor; infant son, John Taylor; grandchildren, Phillip Taylor, Lory Davis, Desiree Davis, Raven Davis; siblings, C.L. Taylor, Gracie Thronesberry, Dorothy Wakley; foster children, Kyle Haines, Andrea Wapasat. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary Jo (Newnam) Taylor of the home; children, Roy F Taylor, Jr. of Sparks, Donita Davis of Pink, Bobby Taylor of Oklahoma City; (5) grandchildren, (20) great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry Taylor of Chandler, Ira Taylor and wife Sue of Wellston, Don Taylor and wife Margret of Oklahoma City, Bill Taylor of Chandler; along with other family and friends.
Visitation will be held at the White Dove Cemetery in Sparks at 1:00 p.m. prior to the 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2021 graveside service. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
