Helen Anita Miller Slayton

Helen Anita Slayton, 82, was born to Riley Jasper Miller, Sr. and Helen Marie (Campbell) Miller on October 25, 1939 in Chandler, OK. She passed from this life November 8, 2021 at her home in Chandler.

Helen grew up in Chandler, graduating CHS in 1957. She married Jim Slayton on June 12, 1961. They lived in Okinawa, Hawaii and Corpus Christie before moving back to Chandler in 1967. During the 70’s and 80’s she worked for Lincoln County News, the City of Chandler, and H&R Block. After retirement she lived out her life on the family farm South of Chandler enjoying her grandchildren, sewing, crochet, knitting, reading, and working puzzles. She was a member of Forest Baptist Church.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Riley and Helen Miller; brother, Riley Miller, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Lois Miller, Bonnie Miller; brother-in-law, Carl Cornett. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jim Slayton of the home; son, Gary and Dana Slayton and their children Melissa and Alex Newport (Beau, Jett, Claire), Ashley and Jarid Long, Matthew Slayton, and Lily Keenan; daughter, Cherie and Kevin Russell and their children, Shannon Russell, Chelsea and Joel McReynolds (Joen, Chloe, Maggie Mae), Kendra and Jacob Hollenbeck (Johnny and Theodore), Jamie Russell; brothers, Gene Miller, Roger and Robin Miller; sisters, Joy Cornett, Doris and Curtis Pulliam; as well as many other nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 at Lehman Funeral Home from 6-8. A graveside funeral will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 at White Dove Cemetery in Sparks at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
