Steve Wayne Smith was born November 14, 1956 in Oklahoma City to Billy and Mildred (Cope) Smith. He passed away October 17, 2021 in Edmond at the age of 64.
Steve grew up in Wellston where he attended school graduating with the class of 1975. He enjoyed fishing and could often be found on a riverbank with a smile and a pole in hand. He was an extremely good mechanic and loved to tinker. Steve worked as a commercial roofer and later at Whitnah Construction as a lineman.
Steve took immense pride in his beautiful lawn. His happiest years were spent with his loving wife, Cindy. He was a great caregiver having taken care of his mother since his father passed away. He loved spending time with his son and granddaughter.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy; father, Billy Smith; and niece, Kimberly Goggin. Survivors include his mother, Mildred Smith of the home; son, Michael Smith and his wife Missy of Luther; step-children, Jeremy Birkes, Kristie Birkes; grandchildren, Kaity Menasco, Garrett Menasco, Carmel Menasco, Lillian Smith; siblings, Allen Smith and his wife Debbie of Arcadia, Gloria Goggin and her husband David of Wellston, Melvin Smith and his wife Lea of Wellston; nephews, Patrick Goggin and his wife Tamara, Camren Smith; great-nephews, Jesse Goggin and Andrew Goggin.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lane Buckley officiating and interment following in the Wellston Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
