Mrs. Joyce LaVerne Stephens Cotton, age 89, of Wellston passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at her residence. She was born February 3, 1934, in Wellston, daughter of the late Harold and Ruby Christine Kephart Stephens.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Monte Cotton; and one brother, Roger “Sonny” Stephens.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellston and a homemaker. She enjoyed arts, crafts, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
LaVerne is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Danker and husband, Vody of Wellston; Beverly Davis and husband, Terry of Wellston; one granddaughter, Sabrina Case and husband, Charles of Wellston; 3 grandsons, Travis Danker and wife, Deidre of Jones, John Paul Troupe and wife, Tivie of Oklahoma City; Brandon Troupe and wife, Ryan of Wellston; 11 great grandchildren Jareth & Sydni Case, Dakota & Cian Danker, Jacob, Kalyn, Liberty, Angel & Aiden Troupe, Kalena & Kenzie Troupe; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday March 25, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Wellston, with Brother Darrell Sullivan officiating. Come and go visitation will be from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Friday, March 24th at Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler. Burial at the Wellston Cemetery.
