Dale Evan Carney of Meeker was born April 13, 1946, in Bristow, Oklahoma. He passed away January 22, 2025, at his home in Meeker with his family at his side. He was 78 years of age.
Dale was the son of Ray and Dolores Nadine (Baird) Carney. He attended Wellston Schools graduating with the class of 1964. He later obtained a bachelor's degree from Central State University and a master's degree from Oklahoma State University.
Dale married his high school sweetheart, Donna Marie Schmidt, on July 1, 1967, in Wellston sharing 57 years together.
Dale proudly served his country in the Oklahoma National Guard for 40 years, retiring as a colonel in 2005. Dale was also an ordained minister at Forrest Baptist Church in Sparks for several years. He enjoyed working outside landscaping, gardening, and carpentry. Dale also enjoyed playing golf with his friends and playing cornhole with his family. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed vacationing, especially with his grandsons.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Delores Carney; brother, Damon Carney; nephew, Scott Myers; brother-in-law, Pat Brown. Survivors include his wife, Donna Carney of the home; daughter, Denise and husband Kelly Alexander of Shawnee; son, Darin Carney and wife Sara of Meeker, four grandsons, Bryce Alexander, Brendan Alexander, Darin Carney Jr and wife Mereya, and Darick Carney; siblings, Sandra Brown, Seth Carney; as well as a host of other family and friends.
The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their loving care.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 am Monday, January 27, 2025, at Lehman Funeral Home followed by interment at the Wellston Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
