Shawn Patrick Barbaree, 56, Guymon, OK resident passed away suddenly at his home on September 15, 2023. The son of Phillip and Gwendolyn Barbaree, he was born January 31, 1967, in Wichita, KS.
Shawn graduated from high school in Vinita, OK with the class of 1985. He moved to Guymon, OK shortly thereafter to begin work in farming. He married his wife, Connie, in 1990 where he gained his first daughter, Ashley. Their second daughter, Bethany, was born later that year, and they welcomed their son, Chancelor, in 1997. Shawn was a graduate of Oklahoma Panhandle State University in 2006. After his graduation, he began a fruitful career in graphic design and media marketing.
Shawn was an avid lover of hunting, fishing, football, and NASCAR. However, his greatest love was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will forever be the best "Daddyo" and "Grampy."
He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Barbaree; daughter, Ashley Layton; sister Tracie Mansfield; uncles Lyndon Hicks, Dennis Hicks; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Shawn is survived by his mother, Gwen Barbaree; his children, Bethany Barbaree and husband, Dusty Wells and Chancelor Barbaree; his grandchildren, Gracie, Gabriel, Reece, Bentley, Asher and Sebastian; his special aunt, Pam Hicks and cousins, Tim and Chad Hicks; numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews. Shawn never met a stranger, so he has left behind a multitude of friends as well.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, September 20th from 5:00 to 7:00 at Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, September 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the Morning Star Methodist Church in Hough with Emanuel DeHerrera officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, September 22nd at 3:00 p.m. at the Tryon, OK Cemetery.
