Virginia Maxine Raffety Trawick

Virginia Raffety Trawick, 87, born May 11, 1931 north of Stroud to Raymond and Gertie Gooch passed January 10, 2019. She lived in the Stroud area all of her life. She attended Pleasant Mound School and graduated from Stroud High School.

Virginia married Billy Raffety February 18, 1950. They were married for 47 years. Together they raised four children, Marshall, Dianna, Kathy, and Mike.

She married Wirt Trawick December 27, 1998. They were married for 20 years.

She was an active member of both the Stroud Christian Church and the First Christian Church in Stroud during her lifetime, playing the piano and organ at both churches and was involved in many church activities.

She was a homemaker, worked at Denier Mills Garment factory, enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, and raising cattle, but most of all spending time and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Gertie Gooch, husband Billy Raffety, sons Marshall Raffety and Mike Raffety, granddaughter Amy Raffety, and brother Billy Gooch.

She is survived by her husband Wirt Trawick of the home, daughters Dianna and (Mike) Foster of Cushing, Kathy and (Pete) Sawatzky of Stroud, daughter-in-law Leanette Raffety of Stroud, stepdaughters Carole Lynette Martin of Stroud, and Julie Ann (William E.) Burton of Tulsa, and stepson Ross Edwin and (Cheryl) Trawick of Spencer.

Also survived by six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren, sister Marion Lytle of Stroud, brothers Joe Gooch of Cushing and Kenneth and (Treva) Gooch of Stroud and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service will be held January 14, 2019 at the First Christian Church in Stroud at 2:00 with Pastor Paul Ragel and Rev. James Raffety officiating. Burial will follow in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.
