Kathrina "Cathy" Ann Terry

terry-k-a

December 4, 1946 ~ October 28, 2022

Kathrina (Cathy) Ann Terry, devoted mother, doting grandmother, wonderful sister & cousin and a friend to everyone, left her earthly home abruptly to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior on October 28, 2022 at the age of 75 years. In between, Cathy loved, laughed, and inspired a countless number of people she met along her journey with her infectious smile. Cathy was named after her maternal grandmother Kathrina Bernice Fehrle Terry and shared a special bond with her paternal grandmother, Ruth Terry.

Cathy was born to John and Bernice Burton Terry on December 4, 1946, in Stroud, Oklahoma. Cathy joined an older brother, Jeff Burton. Jeff and Cathy were then joined by siblings Barbara, Johnny (PeeWee), Bette and Mary and their family was complete. With six children the Terry home was always a bustle of activity and a great place for friends to hang out throughout their school years. Cathy graduated from Stroud High School in 1965 and then attended OSU for one year before returning home to marry her high school sweetheart, Dennis Flatt. They were united in marriage at First United Methodist Church in Stroud. Together they welcomed a baby girl into their lives whom they named Andrea. Eventually Cathy returned to Central State University and received a Bachelors degree in Special Education and a Masters in Education. During Andrea's "growing up" years Cathy taught in Stroud, Drumright and Davenport. She adored and loved spending time with her daughter and grandchildren so after Andrea's college graduation she followed her and her family to Houston where she also taught for ten years. Upon Andrea's family's return to Oklahoma and settling in Bixby, Cathy, too, returned to Bixby and bought a house down the street so her grandchildren could just walk over anytime just like she did with her grandparents house. She taught and retired from the Broken Arrow School system. After retiring she substituted in Bixby where her grandchildren attended school. All of their friends called Cathy "Grandma" and would be so excited when she substituted and would holler at her down the hall & say. 'Yay!! Grandma's substituting today!"

Cathy enjoyed a lifetime of sewing, just as her mom did, and adored her grandchildren so she would sew special things for them like Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, t-shirt quilts & would even alter their friends clothes & bridesmaid dresses. She loved skiing, both snow and water skiing alike. Cathy was a 'bowler' and grew up with family outings at the Stroud bowling alley. When she resided in Bixby she played in family bowling leagues. You could find her family in recent years celebrating family members' birthdays at a Tulsa bowling alley. She was always great fun to be around.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, John Terry, Sr. and Bernice Terry Bridges as well as her younger brother, Johnny Terry, Jr. lovingly referred to as PeeWee.

Cathy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Andrea and Raphe Thompson of Stroud, grandson Blaine Roberson & girlfriend Reagan of Oklahoma City and granddaughter Bailee Pendergraft, husband Casey and great-granddaughter Karter of Houston, Texas. Other surviving family members include brother Jeff Burton and wife Kathy of Santa Rosa, California, sisters Bette Mount and husband Randy of Tulsa, Barbara Harvey of Stroud and Mary Montaque of Tulsa. Being from a large family she also had numerous cousins, nieces, nephews who will miss their Aunt Cathy. Growing up in Stroud and then returning to spend her retirement years in her hometown, Cathy leaves behind a host of friends who mourn her passing along with the family & will missed the most for her sincerity, generosity and love for her family & dear friends. She will be greatly missed not only by her family & dear friends but the entire community of Stroud. She had a love for life that cannot be matched and lived each day to its fullest. Cathy was well-loved, her life was well-lived, and she will be well-remembered.

Services will be 10:00am, Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Stroud First United Methodist Church. Burial to follow at Stroud Cemetery. The family asks that memorial contributions be made in Cathy's name to Stroud First United Methodist Church, 324 N 2nd Ave, Stroud, OK 74079.
