RHOADES, ELLEN FLORETTA

RHOADES, Ellen Floretta, 86, of Norman, OK passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016.

Ellen was born in a tent on August 2, 1929 in Drumright, OK to Ples and Margie Swaffar. While working at Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator at age 16, she took an interest in Jerry Rhoades and they were married on October 3, 1947 in Bristow, OK. In 1949 they started their family and she realized that the best job in the world was being a mother and a homemaker.

In 1954 Ellen accepted her heavenly calling when she became a pastor’s wife. After her children were grown the next phase of her life she dedicated to being a witness for her savior while she worked as a sales clerk, a greeter and a Realtor. Ellen was a member and a pillar of faith at CrossPointe Church for 44 years where she was valued as a Prayer Warrior. Her advice to all she knew and spoke to was simply…..”Trust In The Lord”!

Ellen is survived by her husband Jerry of the home; three daughters: Karen Parish and husband, David, Jerri O’rorke and husband, Audie, and Margie Smith and husband, Gary; one son, Richard Paul Rhoades and wife, Nancy; one brother, Harold Swaffar; Nine Grandchildren; Seven Great-Grandchildren; and one Great Great-Grandchild.

Visitation for Ellen will be on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 2-4 pm at Havenbrook Funeral Home and services will be on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 10:30 am at CrossPointe Church, 2601 24th Ave, S.E., Norman, OK with burial to follow at Stroud Cemetery in Stroud, OK. Services are under the care of Havenbrook Funeral Home.
