JOHN RUSSELL PLACE

December 27, 1926 - November 17, 2017

John Russell Place was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 27, 1926 and departed this life in Shawnee, Oklahoma on November 17, 2017 at the age of 90 years.

John was the son of James Willie and Winnie Rozell (Wadlow) Place. John was a resident of Lincoln County most of life. John was in the United States Army where he served in WWII. He was a member of the American Legion in Chandler. He retired from Allied Material Corporation in Stroud, Oklahoma. John loved to go to auctions and buy antiques. When John wasn't at a auction, he was coon hunting. He married Wanda Pearl Loveall in Chandler on December 18, 1947 and she preceded him in death April 15, 1995. John married Lavada (Wakley) Place on August 8, 1997, in Chandler. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Sandra, three grandchildren, Rodney, Rusty and DJ, four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include, wife Lavada of the home, four sons, Darrell Place of Muskogee, Jerry Place and wife Joyce of Stroud, Randy Place and wife Janie of Stroud, Johnnie Michael Place and wife Lana of Yukon, two daughters, Patricia Cloud of Stroud, Tonie Thornhill and husband, Dalbert, one sister, Marceline Griffin of Eufaula, fourteen grandchildren, Greg, Tiffney, Tammy, Tonya, Clinton, Jerry Jr., Aimee, Stephanie, Steven, David, Danni, Bryan, Travis and Jessica, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, other relative and friends.

Graveside service will be held at the Stroud Cemetery at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 with Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating. Service are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
