P.J. Jenkins left this Earth on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the age of 94. she was born in Elizabeth, AR on March 30, 1924 to William LyCurgus and Minnie (Gettis) Jenkins. She moved with her family to Creek County, OK in 1929 and attended the grade schools at Milfay and Hickory Grove then graduated from Milfay in May 1943. She has been a member of the First Methodist Church since April 1949. She was a substitute mother for her younger brother, Harold and sisters, Dorothea Jean and Betty Jo upon the death of their mother in 1937.

P.J. had a strong work ethic and worked various jobs from clerking in Foster Drug, clerical work at Delue Cather (that build the Turner Turnpike), then from the years of 1953 to 1980, she worked at the Tag Agency with Harold and Frieda Amerman. She then became a substitute Post Office rural mail carrier for about 5 years.

She loved fishing, the out-of-doors and people. She was a confidant to neighborhood children as well as a special friend to the younger and older citizens of Stroud. She was always ready to help others and volunteered for the Salvation Army for 18 years. She had an infectious laugh and will be in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, 5 brothers, Norris, Robert, Curgus, Leroy and Harold and two sisters, Myrtle and Lois.

She is survived by two sisters, Dorothea Jean Haynes of Oklahoma City and Betty Jo Braden of Stroud as well as several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life will be Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Stroud at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.
