Merion Floyd Peace was born June 28, 1930 in Wellston to Helmuth and Ethel Peace. He passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 in Shawnee at the age of 87.

Floyd graduated from White Rock High School and served in the United States Army. When he returned, he worked as an auto mechanic and then attended Oklahoma State University to become an auto mechanic instructor. He taught at Jones High School and retired from Eastern Oklahoma County Vo-Tech in 1989.

Floyd married Minnie Ella Martha Geissler on May 26, 1951 in Wellston. He enjoyed bass fishing, Oklahoma State Cowboys and time with his family, especially when it was at the lake. While living in Jones, he was an active member of Kiwanis International. He joined the Jones Volunteer Fire Department in 1960 retired as the Fire Chief after 26 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Helmuth Jr. Survivors include his wife, Minnie, of the home; his son, Ronnie Peace and wife Larita of Wellston; daughter, Brenda and husband Kaiwa Westbrooks of Lindale, TX; grandson, Brian Peace and wife Melinda of Oklahoma City, granddaughter, Mandie Peace of Dallas, TX, grandson, Jason Peace of Oklahoma City, and granddaughter Kayla Westbrooks of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren Cody and Kaitlyn Peace; sisters, Della Mae Milner of Bristow; Laura Pattison of Wellston; Lois Johnson of Oklahoma City; brother, Melvin Peace of Morristown, Arizona and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Mammoth Baptist Church in Meeker and interment followed at the Rossville Cemetery in Wellston. Memorial contributions can be sent to Rossville Cemetery, 337958 E 1000 Rd, Meeker, OK 74855 or the Jones Volunteer Fire Department, 412 W Main, Jones, OK 73049. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
