Harold Ray VanZant

Harold Roy VanZant, 90, passed away on September 11, 2021, in Prague, Oklahoma.

Harold was born September 5, 1931, in Roscoe, Oklahoma to Roy Lafayette and Rozella Faye (Harris) VanZant. At a young age Harold relocated to Prague with his parents and siblings and there he remained, becoming a life-long resident. He graduated from Prague High School in 1950. On June 1, 1951, Harold married Jackie Johnson at the Prague United Methodist Church. Together they raised three children.

Harold managed the family business, the Conoco station in Prague, for several years. He served as an EMT in Prague, and with the fire department as a volunteer firefighter for many years as well. Harold also worked for the highway department for the State of Oklahoma and from there he retired. He served his community on the Prague city council and on the board for Prague Community Hospital. When Harold wasn’t hard at work he enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his family at the lake.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles VanZant and James VanZant.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Randy VanZant of New Mexico; two daughters, Robin Marsh of Prague, and Kae McGinnis and her husband Sammy of Shawnee, Ok; two sisters, Thelma McDaniel of Harrah, Ok, and Georgia Hoover of Prague, Ok; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
