Catherine J. (Curtis) Smith was born June 1, 1945 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska to Lester Curtis & Helen(McCaulley) Curtis Jordan. She was 1 of 7 children. Cathy attended school at St. John’s Catholic School as a young child and then went to Plattsmouth High School. She received her GED later in life. She met and married Jerry Stricklin in 1962 and moved to Oklahoma which was his home. Together they had 2 children, son, Kurtis Patrick & daughter, Rina Jereen. Catherine was a great "Mama" to her two loving children and they loved her very much.
In June 1998 she married Kenneth Smith in Laughlin, Arizona. Together they had many journeys following Cathy’s career with the Army Corp of Engineers as an Administrative Assistant. Both Cathy & Kenny loved their dogs. Over the years they rescued numerous abandoned dogs and took great care nurturing them.
Cathy loved being with her family. Going out to eat, playing Yahtzee, eating Mexican food, going to play bingo, listening to Elvis Presley & being a loyal fan of OSU!
Preceding her in death is her son, Kurtis Patrick, Parents, Siblings and Many Dear Friends.
Survived by Kenny Smith of the Home, her daughter and son in law, Rina(Stricklin) Martin and Michael, of Shawnee. She was a wonderful Nonnie to her precious granddaughters, Erin Herron and husband Wally, Shawnee. Amber Leonard, Tecumseh and Kacee McGinnis, Shawnee.
2 beloved step daughters Gale & Karen of Arizona, whom she loved as her own and 3 grandkids Skye, Connor & George of Arizona.
She was also adored by her 6 great grand children Caden, Kimber, Hayli, Nash, Scarlett & Samuel.
Sister and brother in law, Dorothy and Barry DeWitt of Arizona and Numerous friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, Catherine would of loved a donation to your local animal shelter. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Prague Cemetery.
