Mary Joyce (Walker) Quary, 94, of Prague, passed from this life to her heavenly reward Monday, September 9, 2024 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Mary was born March 1, 1930, in Belmont, Oklahoma, to Harvey Lee and Edith Bell (Welborn) Walker. She married Benny Leroy Quary on February 6, 1947 in Paden, Oklahoma. The couple packed all their belongings in a steamer trunk and took a bus to California to live. A year later, they moved back to the Prague/Paden area. Later in life, they moved to Vian where they built a cabin alongside the Arkansas River. It was a favorite place for all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren that would bless and enrich their lives. After living on the river, a short time, Benny and Mary soon moved back to Prague.
Mary enjoyed spending time in her garden. She enjoyed watching the hummingbirds eat from her many feeders. She also enjoyed making noodles and making meals for her family. Mary was also the designated babysitter for many of her grandchildren and loved every moment of it. Mary's favorite past time was quilting, where she diligently worked to craft beautiful quilts.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of more than 76 years, Benny Leroy Quary, her son, Lester Quary and two brothers, Roy Lee Walker and Eugene Walker.
Those left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life include her son Steve Quary and his wife, Diana of Prague, her daughter Patricia Seaton and her husband, Jerry, of Paden; her son Rick Quary and dear friend Jody Fox of Oklahoma City; daughter-in-law Jean Quary of Shawnee; her brother, James Walker; her sister, Velma McCarty; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
