Willa A. Powell, 81, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023 in Shawnee.
She was born June 16, 1941 to Martin and Dora (White) Stein in Wellston, Oklahoma.
Willa was raised in Wellston where she attended Wellston Public Schools graduating with the class of 1959 from Wellston High School. She attended Draughon's Business School in Oklahoma City for accounting.
Willa was working at Modern Office Supply in Oklahoma where she met her future husband, Thomas J. Powell. They were married on September 15, 1962 in Nicoma Park, Oklahoma. After marriage they lived in Moore, Oklahoma until moving to Shreveport, LA, then later moving to Leander, Texas before settling in Tecumseh in February 1980 where they have since lived.
Willa was a lifelong bookkeeper working at Modern Office Supply, Barton Valve and CTSA at the time of her retirement.
She enjoyed doing yard work, working in her flower beds and taking care of others.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler D. Smith; parents, Martin and Dora Stein; and brother, Larry Stein.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 60 years, Tom Powell of the home; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Jeannette and Jerry Smith of Prague, OK; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Barry and DeLynn Powell of Tecumseh, OK; 2 grandchildren, Kristen Bean and Robert Powell; 2 great-grandchild, Aiden Bean and Benson Powell; 2 sisters, Freda Mullen Dore of Wellston, OK and Wanda Guthrie of Kerns, TX; and other extended family and friends.
The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Tyler D. Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund at BancFirst in Prague or Terrell Insurance in Prague in lieu of flowers.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2023 and from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2023. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 6, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tim Emmons, Prague First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Prague Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
