Merle Edward Moses was born on September 16, 1931, in Shawnee, and departed this life on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, in Bristow, Oklahoma, at the age of 85.
Merle, the son of Dodge Walker and Winnie Bell (Williams) Moses, was a resident of Bristow. Merle proudly served in the US Army in the Korean Conflict. He married Frances Warden on September 5, 1952 in Prague. Mrs. Moses preceded him in death on January 21, 2007. He then married Ina Guyndola Ledgerwood on January 8, 2011, in Tecumseh. Merle was a member of the Bristow Advent Christian Church. Merle spent many years at Ferguson Pontiac GMC in Norman and Joe Cooper Ford in Shawnee, consistently leading the dealerships in sales. Merle was a horseman, training and taking care of horses for most of his life. He also loved dancing; Merle and Guyndola took dancing classes together and enjoyed going to dances.
Merle’s parents, two brothers, one sister and two half-sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Ina Guyndola Ledgerwood of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Eugene Lakins of Prague and Regina and Mike Kern of Moore; step sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis and Teresa Ledgerwood of Bristow and Keith and Shawn Ledgerwood of Sand Springs; sister, Beverly Maddox of Paden; sister-in-law and husband, Viola and Kenny Edwards of Depew; grandchildren, Johnny and Britney Kern of Oklahoma City, Dustin and Amy Lakins of Prague, Jennifer Kern and Wes Wiedemann of Las Vegas, and Samantha and Baruck Stickland of Prague; step grandchildren, Conner Ledgerwood of Garden City Kansas Dayton and Kelsie Ledgerwood of Bristow and Courtney Ledgerwood of Sand Springs; 9 great grandchildren and many other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM, at First Baptist Church in Prague with Rev. Russell Carle and Bro. Tim Emmons officiating. Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
