Mary Pat Teape Kahanek

kahanek-m-p

August 19, 1926 ~ October 5, 2021

MaryPat Kahanek, who just celebrated 95 years on this earth in August, has passed on from her time here. Born Mary Patricia Teape to Genevieve and Emra Clifford Teape on August 19, 1926, she joined her sister Joanne and brother Bob.

MaryPat's family settled in Prague in 1938 and that was where her heart stayed. MaryPat graduated from Prague High School in 1944, went to the University of Oklahoma then settled back in Prague after college. MaryPat married Cye Kahanek in 1947 and together they owned Kahanek's grocery store. In 1948, Robert Michael "Mike" Kahanek was born, completing their family. The Kahanek family loved OU football, traveling, and being active in local activities. MaryPat moved to Shawnee to live with her great nephew Trey Teape, but she always considered Prague her home.

Preceding her in death, MaryPat is rejoicing in Heaven with her beloved son Mike and husband of 64 years Cye. MaryPat was looking forward to seeing her mom again and hugging her daddy's neck. Her brother and sister were also waiting for her. Left here to miss MaryPat and keep her memory alive are Trey and Kylie Teape, of the home, "grandchildren" Jakin, Mikah, and Samuel Teape of the home, Lexi Walters and Jase Mehring and their son Ozzie, of Prague, Staci and Nathan Lockhart and their three daughters Kate, Jane, and Eleanor of Norman, OK. Nephew Robby Teape of Moore, OK, nephew Chris Teape and his wife Debbie, of Texas, niece Lynda and Bill Estes, of Oklahoma City, and numerous other great nieces and great nephews. And of course, her best friend Ziggy the cat.
