Sherry Kim Irick, 61, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sherry was born on December 11, 1962 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Terry Lance and June Ellen (James) Chancellor. Sherry grew up in Moore, before moving with her family to Prague, where she completed her high school education at Prague High School. She graduated from Prague High School with the Class of 1981. Sherry went on to further her education at the University of Central Oklahoma, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1993 and a master's degree in 2007. Sherry married Joe Don Irick on November 11, 1981 and the couple were married for forty years before he preceded her in death on January 31, 2022. Together, they raised their daughter, Terran, and made their home in Choctaw, Oklahoma.
Sherry was a teacher and a caretaker at heart. She was a dedicated kindergarten teacher at Arthur Elementary School in Oklahoma City for many years. She was passionate about her students and seeing them succeed. She also had a great passion for mentoring young teachers and watching them grow in her example. Sherry always made sure everyone was taken care of. She often stepped in when loved ones were sick or injured. Sherry showed her love to others through gift giving, she always had a knack for picking out just the right gifts for everyone.
Sherry loved to be in the kitchen. She was a skilled cook and enjoyed mastering new recipes. She loved to host big family dinners and could find a reason to celebrate. She loved to traveling, especially extravagant trips that she planned for her grandchildren. Sherry always had a way of finding the good in any situation. She could find light in the darkest of places and was shining example of God's love and her strong faith.
Sherry was preceded in death by her husband of more than forty years, Joe Don Irick; her father, Terry Lance Chancelor and her nephew, Jake Gregory.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Terran Meghan Stefanick and her husband, Steven; two grandsons, Lincoln and Luca Stefanick; her mother, June Ellen Chancellor; her brother, Stacey Chancellor; two sisters, Tina Gregory and Joan Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
