John Davis was carried in the arms of angels to be with the Lord on August 14, 2018. He was born in Okemah, Oklahoma to William “Bill” Davis and Florine (Greene) Davis on September 5, 1933. He grew up in many places, Oklahoma, Texas, California and Arkansas and was a huge Arkansas Razorback fan.
John joined the US Air Force in 1953 at the age of 20. He was stationed all over the world and served in the Vietnam Conflict. The Army’s Big Red One requested he serve with them for one year. He held the rank of Master Crew Chief in air craft maintenance. His hardest conflict was returning home to the States after retirement following a 20 year career, in 1973, as a Master Sargeant. People spit at him, cursed him and called him awful names. This affected him the rest of his life. He was a member of Prague Masonic Lodge, Shawnee Scottish Rite and The Knights Templar. He was also a member of the Prague American Legion.
He loved to fish and work with wood. He had no training, but was an excellent carpenter. He married Jane Brown in 1977 in Gainsfield, Texas.
John was preceded in death by his mom and dad; sister, Shirley Smith; mother and father-in-law, Cecil and Alta Brown; brother-in-law, Johnny Brown; sister-in-law, Nancy Brown; brother-in-law, Don Ahboah and great nephew, Blaine Yarber.
John is survived by his wife of 41 years of the home, daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and John Schultz of Florida, Granddaughter, Trista and Shawn Beel, Constance, Savannah and Shawn Jr of Prague. Grandson, John Schultz of Florida, Step daughter, Theresa Gardner. Sonya and Jessica of Arizona. Brother-in Law, EC Smith of Tulsa; sister-in-law, Linda Ahboah of Oklahoma City and Kenneth Brown of Stroud; Brother and sister-in-law, George and RosaLea Davis of Arkansas; many other relatives and friends and beloved friends Boyd and Christy Crowder and Junior and Becky Emmons.
The Davis family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Deer Creek Baptist Church in Stroud, OK with Mike Haines officiating. Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery.
