Letha Louise (Watkins) Coomer of Prague, Oklahoma, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 13, 2025, surrounded by her family at the age of 92. It is a tender coincidence that nine years earlier, on this very date, her brother James Watkins also passed away.
Louise was born on August 21, 1932, in Paden, Oklahoma, to Lee Roy Watkins and Effie Nye (Harwell) Watkins. She graduated from Center View High School in 1950, where she enjoyed playing basketball and was honored as the basketball queen.
A dedicated and friendly face in the community, Louise worked as a sales clerk at Prague Sharpe's Department Store for 22 years. She loved visiting with customers and formed a lifelong friendship with her boss, Carl "Salty" Fields.
On August 29, 1950, Louise married the love of her life, Harley Lavon Coomer. Together they built a home and raised two daughters, Ladona June and Cynthia Anette. Louise and Lavon shared a love for sports and took great joy in watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in Red Devil activities.
Louise is survived by her brother, Max Watkins; her daughters, Ladona Johnson and husband Kenneth, and Cynthia Coomer and fi ance Randy Blemmel. She is also survived by grandchildren Velvet and Will Hand, David and Monica Johnson, and Kelly and Marshall Dillon, all of Prague; as well as great-grandchildren Kennedy Gregory and Jason Childers, Tanner Gregory, Mallori Reno, Maylee Reno, Harley Johnson, Hailey Johnson, Ashlyn Hand, Ethan Hand, Lakeyn Hand, Mekko Hand, Avery Hand, and Maggie Hand. Additional great-grandchildren include Avalon Salas, Roslynn Childers, and Sariah Childers. She leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Lavon; her brothers Don, Weldon, James, and Kenneth; and her grandson, Ron Reno.
Services for Louise will be held on Thursday, July 17, at 10 a.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Home, with Brother Tim Emmons, Brother Kevin Wehrli, and Brother Nathan Howard offi ciating. Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague
