Former Prague resident Sherri Rene Barrett passed from this life on January 12, 2019 at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sherri was born August 2nd, 1968 in Seminole, Oklahoma, where her paternal grandmother helped deliver her into this world. Sherri was the first born daughter to former Prague residents Marilyn Page and Garry Barrett.
Sherri is preceded in death by her best friend and sister, Kristi Marie Barrett, maternal grandparents, Irvin and Loydale Page, and paternal grandfathers Wayne Barrett, then later, Bruce Huff.
Sherri attended Eldorado High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico and graduated in 1986. Sherri moved to Prague after high school and attended Seminole Junior College and graduated from Oklahoma State University with her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
Sherri loved the outdoors and especially loved her dogs. Growing up, Sherri would spend her summers in Prague with both sets of grandparents. Sherri loved to go fishing with her paternal grandparents, and she loved going to Hamburger King with her maternal grandparents. Sherri always loved going to the coffee shop in Prague, visiting the Dairy Mart, feeding cattle on her paternal grandparent’s acreage, and playing in the hay. Sherri and her sister had a wonderful childhood and they were inseparable.
Surviving Sherri include her mother and step-father Marilyn and Larry Mahorich of Albuquerque, New Mexico, father and step-mother Gary and Lupe Barrett of Durango, Colorado, paternal grandmother Doris Barrett Huff of Prague, and numerous family members and friends.
A celebration of Sherri’s life was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Wednesday, January 16th, 2019. Sherri returned to Prague to be laid to rest eternally by her best friend and sister, Kristi Marie Barrett. A graveside service was held for Sherri on January 17, 2019 at Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague, Oklahoma.
