DAVID EARL WATKINS

February 25, 1941 - November 1, 2017

David Earl Watkins, 76, left this earthly home Wednesday, November 1, 2017. Arrangements are under the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Stillwater. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Wes McFarland Center in Agra at 2:00pm. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 5th from 1:00pm to 8:00pm with family greeting guest from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home.

David was born on February 25, 1941 to Earl and Maxine (Nelson) Watkins in Tryon, Oklahoma. He grew up and attended school in Agra, Oklahoma. In his younger years he spent numerous hours walking the woods, and won many trophies coon hunting with his dogs. David proudly served in the U. S. Army and spent time in Germany until he was honorably discharged in 1969. After he left the Army, David began working as a painter and was an exceptional carpenter. He also spent many years working for the Agra Public Schools. David enjoyed reading, drawing, and most of all his community. On any given day you could find him sitting on the bench outside of the Maveric joking and visiting with his friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.

David is survived by his best friend, Betty Thompson; six children, Lisa and Juan Salinas of Grand Prairie, Texas, Sonya Watkin - Aguilar and Eddy Aguilar of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, David Watkins, Jr. of Agra, Oklahoma, Charlie Johnson of Stroud, Oklahoma, Carolyn and Gary Roe of Agra, Oklahoma, Dicky and Connie Thompson of Oak Grove, Oklahoma; one brother, Clyde and Cathy Watkins of Agra, Oklahoma ; three sisters, Marge Ferman of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Shirley Roria of Sahuarita, Arizona, Judy and Jim Camren of Tryon, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; parents; three sisters, Elizabeth Watkins, Mary Beth Stalford , Patsy Gillian; three brother-in-laws, Bob Roria, Ray Ferman, Derrell Gillian; and nephew, Paul Gillian.
