He paid the ultimate price in the defense of freedom during the China-Burma-India theater of war.One of 1,015 men who perished from the rohna disaster during World War II off the coast of North Africa.
He is buried at sea. His name is listed on the wall of the missing in the North African American Cemetery
at Carthage, Tunisia. He is the son of Daniel and Maude Herrmann.
