Jimmie Ted Taliaferro, 87, a long-time resident of Chandler, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Jimmie Ted was born on Sunday, January 6, 1935, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Oran and Irene (Lambert) Stipe. She grew up and attended schools in Chandler, graduating from Chandler High School in 1953.
Jimmie married Stanford "Bud" Taliaferro on February 22, 1993. He preceded her in death in 2012.
Jimmie held a variety of jobs during her lifetime. In the early 1970s, she worked at Redbud's in Chandler, riding her motorcycle, a Honda 350, to work and back home again despite the weather. She also worked in produce at Kinnamon's in Chandler for several years. For nearly 20 years, she worked for the state Department of Agriculture, starting out as a poultry grader, and produce inspector, and finally retiring as an assistant director.
When Jimmie Ted "J.T." wasn't working or involved in civic organizations, she enjoyed her horses, cattle, and her dogs. She spent years taking care of other people and her family, whom she loved fiercely.
Jimmie Ted was a member of the Oklahoma Order of the Eastern Star and was active with the Chandler Senior Citizens Center. She proudly received her CCW license in her 70s, although she never had to use it.
Jimmie Ted was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Bud Taliaferro; her parents, Oran and Irene Stipe; her son, Oran Lee Cox; and a sister, Sara Lou Jones.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sarene Deeds, Joe B. Cox and partner, Jeff Davault, Marshall Cox, and Dezmon Taliaferro; grandchildren, Austin Deeds, J.T. Cox, and Alaina Cox; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Jimmie will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Parks Brothers Funeral Service Chapel. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 5:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 25, at Parks Brothers. Condolences can be expressed at www.parksbrothers.net. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Willow Springs Boy's Ranch, www.wsbr.ws Services are in the care of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler, Oklahoma.
