meteer-rm

April 15, 1931 ~ August 5, 2022

Ruth Mae Meteer was a special person - a wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She was born into a family of ten children on April 15th, 1931 in Chandler, Oklahoma.

Ruth attended Chandler schools until she married Sonny Rush and they had a son they named Charles Glen. After their divorce, she met and married Harlan Meteer. They had two daughters named after their mothers, Vera Mae and Edna Jo. Ruth was the mother of three children, five grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, sister, and grandmother.

Ruth will be remembered as someone loving, kind, and caring. She enjoyed attending church, and she held a strong belief in God. She always trusted in the Lord and truly believed in the power of prayer. When Ruth was young, she was known for having the courage to follow her heart. She was never afraid of life and adventure.

Wherever Ruth was, she was always a happy, carefree person. She was patient and generous to her family, and she didn’t have a mean bone in her body. She never hurt a living soul and she welcomed all of us with open arms. Ruth was an inspiration for all of us to be kind, have faith in our hearts, and be the best person we could be. We will always have wonderful memories of Ruth Rackley Meteer.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna Rackley; 5 brothers; 4 sisters; and her daughter, Vera Verner. Survivors include her son, Charles Rush (Cindy) of Chandler; daughter, Edna Rogers of Chandler; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; along with other family and friends.

A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022 in the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel in Wellston with interment following in the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
