Wesley Gaines Loper

Wesley Gaines 'Wes" Loper, long-time Chandler, Oklahoma, resident was born December 24, 1948, in San Diego, California. He departed this life on July 9, 2024, at his home in Chandler at the age of 75 years.

Wes was the son of Dale and Mary Lou (Gaines) Loper. He grew up in the Oklahoma City, Edmond area and graduated from Edmond High School in 1967. Wes married Judy Lynn Birdsong on February 14, 1971, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Wes attended the University of Oklahoma where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, he later went on to receive his Master of Fine Arts degree from Claremont Graduate School in California. Wes, along with Judy, owned and operated Art Design and Sign Company in Mesquite, Texas and Chandler, Oklahoma for many years. He loved painting, playing chess, exhibiting their art at art shows and later in life fishing for bass. Wes was a faithful member of the Chandler First Baptist Church.

He was truly an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend, truly one of a kind, he will be greatly missed.

His parents, and brother-in-law, Jerry Dutton preceded Wes in death.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Judy (Birdsong) Loper of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Bertram and Yvette Loper of Quinlan, Texas; three grandchildren, Hailey, Jonathan, and Trinity; one sister, Mary Ellen Hughes; one brother and sister-in-law, Cliff and Jennifer Loper; three brothers-in-law, Ed Birdsong, Ross Birdsong, and Ronnie Birdsong; one sister-in-law, Carol Dutton; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Chandler First Baptist Church, with Brother Rick Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, in Chandler. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, Oklahoma.
