Philip Noel "Phil" Boyd Jr., born Aug. 27, 1946, departed this life at age 76 on Jan. 23, 2023, in Oklahoma City surrounded by family.

Phil was born in Sayre, Okla. to Philip Noel Boyd Sr. and Winifred (Fullerton) Boyd. After graduating from Sayre High School in 1964, he attended Sayre Junior College and then graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in Journalism. While at OSU, Phil met the love of his life, Susan E. Helberg, and they were wed on Aug. 9, 1970, in Ardmore. They moved to Chandler in 1972, where they raised their son and daughter.

Phil worked at the Lincoln County News from 1970 to 1987 and at Chandler Public Schools in many capacities from 1987 to 2015, most recently as Treasurer.

Phil spent many years as a volunteer in the local Cub Scout and Boy Scout community, where he wore many hats and had a significant influence on the lives of numerous young men in the Chandler area. He was also an active member of Chandler Rotary and of the Central Church of Christ in Chandler, where he served many years as an elder.

A man of many interests, Phil enjoyed photography and had a vast collection of vintage cameras. He also enjoyed playing chess and spending time with his family and friends, when he wasn't taking photos or enjoying the arts.
