Wanda "Maxine" Bonds Kalka

Wanda “Maxine” Kalka, age 83, passed away on October 1, 2021, after losing her battle with the COVID-19 virus. Graveside gathering for family will be held on October 15, 2021, at New Zion Cemetery, Chandler at 10:30 a.m. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Maxine’s life at a Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering at 12 pm at Lake View Ridge Lodge (formerly Bell Cow Lodge), 341070 East 890th in Chandler, Oklahoma.

Maxine was born on May 29, 1938, in Madera, California to Albert and Edith (Walls) Bond. She fondly remembered living in California where she began elementary school. Later, she would attend school in Stroud, Oklahoma, when the family relocated there. She graduated from Stroud High School in May 1956. She married Lewis DeWayne Kalka, of Davenport, Oklahoma, on October 26, 1956. They would raise their four children on a farm west of Chandler. Along with daily task of a farm wife and mother, she worked retail in Chandler and later on, as a receptionist for Dr. Wendell Richards. In her later years, she moved to her home on Oak Hill Drive in Chandler. Most recently she lived at Prairie Point Assisted Living in Stroud. She loved her time there. Maxine loved sewing and being of service. As the oldest of eight children and a mother, she learned to be a caretaker early on. She had a grateful, giving heart and loved being of service to those in need. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Chandler and loved her church family dearly.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Edith Bond; sisters, Correne Bond Jackson and Linda Rose Carlone; and a brother, Carl Albert Bond.

She is survived by her four children, Ronnie Kalka and wife Beverly, Mary Shuey and husband Rob, John Kalka, and Lori Reynolds and her husband, Rob; nine grandchildren: Sandy Matthews and husband Phil, Candy Kalka, Spencer Shuey, Joe Kalka and wife Laura, John R. Kalka and wife Kalie, Janelle Kalka, Andrew Reynolds and wife Sara, Aaron Reynolds and wife Jocelyne, and Alex Reynolds; four great-grandchildren: Karlee, Benjamin, Ariel and Levi; three sisters: Sharon Davidson and husband Ken, Carrol Phillips, and Cathy Bond; one brother, James Bond and wife Sarah; sister-in-law Teri Bond and seventeen nieces and nephews.
