Leon Gene Williams was born November 26, 1933, in Meeker, Oklahoma to George and Icle (Smith) Williams. He passed away November 25, 2024, in his home in Chandler the day before his 91st birthday.
Leon worked on the pipeline at 16 years old. He was a Golden Gloves boxer, rode bulls and lived the fullest 91 years a man could live. Leon loved being outside working. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and teaching his grandchildren to fish.
Leon worked for OG&E for 38 years. He also pastored the Agra Assembly of God for 14 months and Davenport Assembly of God for 35 years. Leon had a profound sense of humor. He also had many friends as he had never met a stranger.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, George and Icle Williams; brother, Dean Williams; sister, Geneva Ellison; and daughter, Deborah Williams. Survivors include his wife of nearly 72 years, Joyce Williams of the home; children, Rocky Williams and wife Cheryl, Mike Williams and wife Darlene, Scotty Williams and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Stephanie Williams, Amanda Williams, Chris Williams, Jeremy Williams, Michelle Mooy and husband Steven, David Williams, Heather Spencer and husband Dillon, Morgan Sneed and husband Sonny; (14) great-grandchildren; (3) great-great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way; other family and friends.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2024, in the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the New Hope Cemetery in Meeker. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
