December 21, 1958 ~ December 22, 2021

Randy Roy Smith, a life-long resident of Meeker, Oklahoma, passed away on December 22, 2021, one day after his 63rd birthday in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Randy was born on December 21, 1958, in Lakewood, California to Jack and Joyce Emily (Keel) Smith. As a child, Randy spent much of his time playing ball with friends, with his dad as his coach, and working in the hayfield. He attended Meeker schools, graduating from Meeker High School in 1977. While attending Meeker, Randy played on both the basketball and baseball teams. He was a member of three State Championship baseball teams and loved playing these sports with his high school friends.

On April 15, 1978, Randy married Lisa Holman at the First Baptist Church in Meeker.

Throughout his professional career, Randy worked for Gilt Edge, Worthington Pump, and Eaton, all located in Shawnee. He retired from General Motors, in Oklahoma City, after 27 years. He finished out his professional career as a licensed HVAC technician working for DanRan Mechanical and Cimmaron Terrace Apartments until retirement. As an adult, he played slow pitch softball on a team with friends. He served on the Meeker School Board for 10 years.

Randy was also a farmer and raised cattle. He could usually be found on a tractor or a four-wheeler feeding, cutting hay, or just watching the cows. If not on the farm, he could be found in the stands cheering on his granddaughters at their softball or basketball games. He also enjoyed listening to good music, going to concerts, taking family vacations, and cracking wise jokes. The wheels were always turning.

Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Lisa Smith; his daughter, Candice Gatz and her husband, Alan; his father, Jack Smith; siblings, Richard Smith and his wife, Carrie, Sharon Gardner, Freddie Smith and his wife, Tammy, and Darla Borden and her husband, Tracy; his grandchildren Brynlee Gatz and Baylee Gatz; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Max and Dolly Holman; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
