Verna Lee Nicely Kirchmeier, 92, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, Great-grandmother and friend, went peacefully home to be with her Heavenly Father and her loved ones, on August 4, 2017 in Allen, Texas. Verna Lee, the oldest of five children, was born February 12, 1925 in Payson, Oklahoma to William “Bill” Nicely and Beulah Gladys Moffitt.
Verna Lee attended Meeker High School and after graduation she attended Connors State Agricultural College. She worked at the Meeker Post Office and during WWII worked at Douglas Aircraft. On June 16, 1951 she married Olen Harvey Kirchmeier. They later made their home in Bay City, Texas where Olen worked for Celanese Corporation, and where they raised their family. During their time in Bay City, Verna Lee was a member of the Junior Service League and the First Baptist Church and worked several years at Bay City Bank and Trust.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her devoted husband, Olen Harvey Kirchmeier. She is survived by her children, Jim Kirchmeier and wife Marsha; Mark Kirchmeier; Sue Worsham and husband Tommy; grandchildren Brook Bridwell and husband Jeremy, Jaime Zapata and husband Andy; Samantha Roos and husband Jake; Jared Kirchmeier and Casey Worsham, and six great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers and staff of Mustang Creek Estates for the care and devotion given to Verna Lee in the last years of her life. In addition their gratitude goes to Total Hospice and Palliative Care and their staff for the love and care they showed to her as well as to the entire family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Meeker, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Verna Lee’s name may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association.
Pallbearers will be: Jim Kirchmeier, Jared Kirchmeier, Tommy Worsham, Casey Worsham, Jeremy Bridwell, and Andy Zapata.
