WAYNE B. WORTHY
1923 - 2007


Wayne B. Worthy, retired truck driver, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at his residence at the age of 84 years.
The son of the late John Worthy and Alta Mae Rodgers Worthy, Wayne was born on January 17, 1923 in Cushing, Oklahoma and was reared and educated in this area.
He was united in marriage to Wanda Buchanan on October 4, 1952 and to this union five children, Lorrie, Mona, Sallae, Joe and Gaye were born.
Wayne was a retired truck driver.
He loved to spend time with his family; writing poetry, saw milling, and being outdoors.
Survivors include four daughters, Lorrie Walls and her friend Gary Joiner of Millerton, Oklahoma; Mona Armstrong of Stroud; Sallae Posey and her husband Guy of Stillwater; and Gaye Kirk and her husband Gary of Stroud; one son, Joe Worthy and his wife Linnie of Milfay; four brothers, Melvin “Bud” Worthy and his wife Estelle of Shawnee; Bill Worthy and his wife Etta of Agra; Rodger Worthy and his wife Ann of Los Lunis, New Mexico; and George “Corky” Worthy and his wife LuAnn of Cushing; grandchildren, Julie Walls of Valliant, Oklahoma; Jennifer and Jason Jackson of Valliant, Oklahoma; Stanley Magby of Durant; Christopher Gardner of Stillwater; Erin and Shaun Jackson of Guthrie; Shadra Posey of Stillwater; Travis and Shauna Posey of Stillwater; Joseph Whittington of Tulsa; Amy and Anthoney Worthy of Cassville, Missouri; Chalin Worthy of Milfay; Meagan Worthy of Milfay; Shayna Kirk of Stroud; and Kyle Kirk of Stroud; great-grandchildren, Mavryn Julyet Walls, Dakota Lane Posey, Jacob Whittington, Boe James Freeman, Jonathan Gardner, Lauren Raelyn Jackson, Dylan Russell, Shayne Jackson and Daisy Marie Worthy; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by one brother Orvil “Gene” Worthy and three sisters, June Cook, Bonnie Childress and Betty Delong.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Davis Memorial Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Flynn Cemetery.
