1934 - 2015
Charles Bradley Witty, 81, went to be with his Savior on March 9, 2015.Charles was born on February 23, 1934 in Fairfax, Oklahoma.He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1952 and attended Central State Teachers College {now University of Central Oklahoma} where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education and later earned his Master’s Degree in Education and Counselor’s Certification.He served two years in the U. S. Army.In 1958 he began his teaching and coaching career in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, later moving to Wewoka, Oklahoma for one year. In 1965, Charles began his long tenure in Stroud, Oklahoma. He retired in 1987 but continued to help coach football wherever he was needed until 2012.His other passion was serving as a Deacon at First Baptist Church, Stroud, Oklahoma. He was active in many different ministries but had a deep passion in particular for Youth Ministries. He attended Falls Creek for many years as a sponsor and counselor.He will be remembered for his love of family and friends, encouraging words, smile, laughter and a servant’s heart.The family would like to thank all the wonderful and compassionate healthcare workers that cared for him. The family would also like to extend their sincere gratitude to Pastor James Bond and all the members of the First Baptist Church and the Stroud community for their prayers and support.Survivors include Sylvia Witty, his loving wife of 57 years; sons Brad {Jean Anne} Witty; Steve {Barbara} Witty; grandchildren, Cheryl {Gabriel} Castillo, Katherine {Nicholas} Medford, Sarah {Ryan Johnson, fiancée} Witty, Erica Witty and Paul Witty; great-grandchildren Josef and Gemma Castillo; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 302 West 4th Street, Stroud, Oklahoma 74079.A time for reflection and visitation will be held following the service at the FBC Family Life Center. There will also be a viewing on Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Stroud, Oklahoma.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the following funds that were dear to Coach’s heart: Stroud Public School Foundations Inc. P.O. Box 943 Stroud, OK 74079 and First Baptist Church-Falls Creek Scholarship Fund P.O. Box 600 Stroud, Oklahoma 74079.
